The new Electrikhana 2 film featuring the Audi S1 Hoonitron and Ken Block has already been viewed more than two million in just one day. Hoonigan has published the last video that Ken Block starred in before his death in January 2023. This film is a follow-up to Gymkhana 11 called Electrikhana 2 that shows Ken Block’s last dance with Audi S1 Hoonitron.
Block’s team gained experience while filming Gymkhana 11 to make several improvements to the S1 Hoonitron’s drivetrain. Hoonigan incorporated a “simulated gears” feature, enhancing the drivetrain with a digital gearbox through programmed wheel speed control in the electric motors. Block controlled this system using a pair of steering wheel-mounted paddles.
Hoonigan highlights the need for a transmission-like system in the powerful drivetrain. This system gives Block better control over S1 Hoonitron, especially during slides, and allows precise acceleration. The drivetrain in the film shows cool features like a standing all-wheel-drive burnout, seamless shifts between rear- and all-wheel drive, and reversing at any speed. While updated specs are pending, Block’s original S1 Hoonitron had an impressive 2,212 pound-feet of torque.
Embed below, the video guides you through a speedy tour of iconic spots in Mexico City. Block takes the S1 Hoonitron from the Plaza de Toros, the world’s largest bull-fighting ring, to playful maneuvers at Benito Juárez International Airport. He encounters a modified Volkswagen Beetle (locally known as vocho) and skillfully burns through sets of tires. Electrikhana 2 delivers top-notch filming quality synonymous with Block’s videos, showcasing not just the car and sights but also thrilling visuals.
