Ford has revamped its most popular pickup truck, the F-150 model, which has been in production for approximately half a century. In 2020, the 14th generation of the pickup made its debut, making it high time for the planned restyling. The refreshed Ford F-150 and its “beefed-up” F-150 Raptor version were unveiled on the eve of the Detroit Auto Show.

Without delay, Ford has already started accepting orders and disclosed the sales prices for the updated pickup. The base version of the pickup starts at $36,570 (excluding delivery), while the “beefed-up” F-150 Raptor pickup begins at $77,980. This represents a substantial increase from the previous model before the restyling.

Advanced Technology and Safety Features

The update is primarily based on the standard scenario. The pickup features new, more aggressive bumpers, modernized optics, and a distinct grille. Its interior has also been modernized, expanding its standard equipment, revisiting equipment levels and engine options. The base 3.3-liter V6 engine has been discontinued.

The refreshed Ford F-150 Pickup Truck now sports distinctive “headlamps” with sleek LED daytime running lights. The front headlights are divided into two blocks, separated by yellow turn signals. The lighting technology is integrated into the grille, with the grille’s design depending on the selected equipment level. For example, in the Tremor version with orange accents, the grille is divided into two sections with a bright orange trim.

The most significant change at the rear is the new Pro Access Tailgate opening system. It not only opens downward but also has a tailgate in the middle that opens at an angle of 37-100 degrees. This should make loading and unloading easier. This tailgate solution allows for a reduction in the distance to the handle and extends the accessible area by approximately half a meter.

Now in the cabin, there’s a 12-inch screen for the multimedia system (included in the standard equipment), and for the F-150 model, an additional projection display is offered for the first time. Even the base-level pickup now includes a lane-keeping assist and improved storage in the form of a changeable helper in the center console. Furthermore, a 10-helper system is included, featuring enhanced storage capabilities. Another enhancement is the ability to display two images from external cameras on the central screen.

Enhanced Performance and Engine Options

The most powerful and expensive pickup in the Ford F-150 Pickup Truck lineup is the F-150 Raptor model. There are two engine options to choose from: a 456-horsepower twin-turbocharged V6 and a 5.2-liter V8 engine with “over 700 horsepower,” according to the company. The latter engine carries the R designation, signifying the exclusivity of the Raptor pickup. Preliminary information suggests that the extreme pickup’s price should exceed $111,000.

The sales launch for the Ford F-150 and F-150 Raptor pickups is planned for the beginning of 2024.
