The list of finalists for The Car of the Year 2024 award is decided. A jury consisting of 59 journalists published a list of seven finalists. The finalists were chosen from among 28 models sold and available for a test drive in at least five European countries.
The next vote will determine the best car among them. The name of the winner will be announced at the Geneva Motor Show in February.
The list of contenders for the victory includes several electric cars: Peugeot e-3008, Renault Scenic, Volvo EX30 and Kia EV9. There is also a Chinese car among the finalists – BYD Seal electric sedan.
It should be noted that there was no Chinese car in last year’s short list. In addition, the Toyota C-HR and BMW 5-Series models will also fight for the title of car of the year in Europe.
Last year, the winner of the “Car of the Year” contest was an American car. Jeep was recognized as the best car for the first time. The Avenger electric crossover scored 328 points and surpassed Volkswagen ID.Buzz and Nissan Ariya electric cars.
After further test drives, a final round of voting will decide the 2024 Car of the Year and the winner will be announced at a ceremony at the Geneva Motor Show on Monday 26 February.
