Just because Dodge isn’t building any more V-8 Hellcats doesn’t mean Ford isn’t interested in making new Mustangs with 800-plus horsepower. That’s what’s on the menu with the new Ford Performance supercharger kit, which debuts on the Ford Mustang FP800S concept at this year’s SEMA show.
The most powerful version of Dark Horse has a high probability of being released at the same time as the major facelift! However, if you think the new Cayote’s 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine’s maximum output of 500 horsepower is not enough, you might as well consider the original Mustang supercharger kit launched by Ford Performance for only US$9,995. It can squeeze out 810 horsepower from the V8 power heart of Mustang GT and Mustang Dark Horse, and it also comes with a 3-year, 36,000-mile (60,000 kilometers) original factory warranty.

In fact, this set of supercharger kits for the major facelift Mustang 2023 SEMA Show first appeared as FP800S at the American Auto Parts Exhibition. This Mustang supercharger kit costs US$9,995. With the sixth-generation 3.0-liter Whipple dual-rotor supercharger as the core, it has dual air channels, dual water channels, and dual intercoolers designed to take into account cooling efficiency. It is also replaced with a new throttle valve with a diameter increased to 92mm, and a new enhanced kits such as spark plugs and GT500 fuel injectors allow whether it is a 480-horsepower Mustang GT or a 500-horsepower Mustang Dark Horse. The maximum horsepower and peak torque can be enhanced to 810 horses and 614.8 pound-feet!
Turning our attention back to Ford Performance’s kit, maximum power varies by 10 ponies between the standard and active-valve exhaust. Ford Performance advertises the Mustang supercharger kit as being legal in 49 states. Unfortunately for 2024 Mustang owners from Cali, this package does not have regulatory approval for use in California.
When it comes to peak torque, owners can look forward to 615 pound-feet (834 Nm) with the 92-millimeter throttle body. For reference, the 10-speed automatic in the 2024 model year Mustang is dubbed 10R80, with 80 standing for 800 Nm (590 pound-feet) of maximum input torque. The 10R140 for heavy-duty and medium-duty trucks, on the other hand, can take up to 1,200 pound-feet (1,627 Nm) from the Super Duty’s Power Stroke turbo diesel V8.
ENGINE SPECS FOR EUROPEAN MARKET
The biggest difference between the 7th generation European Mustang and the American Mustang is that the power output is “restricted”. the power adjustment is in principle based on European regulations. It is also a 5.0-liter V8 engine, but the GT version only has 440 hp/398 pound-feet (55.1 kg-m), while the Dark Horse’s 448 hp/398 pound-feet (55.1 kg-m) has a power reduction of even more. A score of 52 horses!
