Mercedes-AMG announced relevant information about the new AMG GT 43 Coupe on March 19. Just like the brand previously introduced a four-cylinder turbocharged engine for the SL, the AMG GT 43 Coupe also uses a four-cylinder with F1 turbine technology this time. Turbocharged power provides efficient power performance. At the same time, this car will still provide a 2+2-seater configuration, bringing relatively flexible space performance.

Mercedes-AMG emphasized that the turbocharging system used in the car is derived from the technology devolved from F1 racing cars. The micro electric motor is directly integrated on the shaft of the turbocharger, and the turbocharger is directly driven through electric motor control. The turbine blades can be pre-accelerated before the exhaust gas drives the turbine, which can make the acceleration process smoother.

With this configuration, the AMG GT 43 Coupe will provide a maximum horsepower output of 421 horsepower. This power performance is also stronger than the convertible model, and the torque part can provide an output of 51 kilograms. Combined with the 48V light oil-electric system, an additional 14 horsepower can be added. The transmission system equipped on the car is AMG Speedshift MCT 9G, and it is presented in rear-wheel drive specifications. With such a power combination, it only takes 4.6 seconds to accelerate from standstill to 100 kph, and the top speed is 280km/h.

It is worth mentioning that although the four-cylinder engine may lack some surging sound performance. In terms of body weight, it can make the front weight of the car lighter, which will help the dynamic performance during intense driving. In addition, the AMG GT 43 Coupe can also be equipped with a four-wheel steering system. This system can be reversed to the front wheels to bring flexible control performance when the speed is less than 100km/h. When the speed is above 100km/h, it can move in the same direction as the front wheels, bringing a more stable straight-line control experience.

The 2024 Mercedes AMG GT55 and GT63 coupes are set to debut in the U.S. this spring, but the arrival of the AMG GT 43 will be delayed a little longer. The new entry-level coupe will eventually go on sale as a 2025 model, with pricing to arrive closer to its launch date. Given the substantial price increases for the more powerful AMG GT coupes in 2024, it’s probable that the AMG GT 43 will commence at over US$100,000.
